Northland Learning Center Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals are an important part of the educational team. They have many varied duties. Paraprofessionals offer support for special needs of students. They also assist teachers in maintaining a safe environment that respects individual differences and engages all children in learning activities. They respect confidentiality for students and families.

Roles of paraprofessionals may include:

  • Assisting teachers with lessons and activities.
  • Assisting with monitoring student behaviors.
  • Working with small groups or individual students to reinforce lessons the teacher has introduced.
  • Assisting with behavior modifications under the direction of the case manager.
  • Participating in staffings and conferences.

Paraprofessionals are a respected team member. They work to provide appropriate and effective educational support.
